It was interesting to observe the balance between task and maintenance activities. The group maintained a task focus for extended periods of time, interspersed with brief maintenance activities in the form of personal thanks expressed to group for learning opportunities, group providing positive feedback to individuals and humor which was the main form of maintenance activities.
The group, in good humour, nominated Gary to take the minutes and Gary appeared to accept the nomination willing.
Ian intitiated discussions on an agenda. Group agreement was sought to accept the agenda and start the tasks. The agenda was reviewed later when a suggestion was made to move into subcommittees. The original group agreement regarding the agenda was raised and the group agreed to continue with original agenda for the time being and allocate time at the end for subcommittees.
After significant group focus on the agreed agenda, some members began separate conversations at the same time as the main topic was being discussed. These members were primarily the members who were keen to move into subcommittees. This did not appear to raise group concern.
Overall the group worked very well together and achieved a signficant number of goals in a positive and supportive environment.
